Well over a billion gallons of French Wines are produced annually from the grapes of well over 100,000 grape growers in France. As many people know French Wines are typically named for the growing region or vineyard where they are produced i.e. Bordeaux wine.

Bordeaux wine comes from one of only seven primary wine-producing regions in France, and is probably the most legendary of the French wines. When one thinks of Bordeaux wine, red wine usually comes to mind. However, Bordeaux wine means much more than just "reds". Bordeaux wine comes in a wide range of non-reds ranging from dry or sweet white Bordeaux wine to rosés to some very fine sparkling wines.

Of all producers of French wines, between 10 and 15 thousand wine growers are behind the production of Bordeaux wine, treating the world with options for every palate, mood and budget. Although Bordeaux wine is the most notable of the French wines, one cannot ignore the fact that there's more to French wines than just Bordeaux wine.

Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the three largest AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée: the top quality grade of French wines) zones in France, sharing this distinction with the likes of Bordeaux wine and Côtes du Rhône wines. Although it is the largest producing region, with its primary focus on quality since the 1970's, Languedoc is now one of the most successful regions for quality French wines as well.
