Fine wine can be drank
responsibly by observing certain guidelines. These guidelines
don't have to be strict but allow you to enjoy the true taste
of the wine
by serving and tasting wine properly. Wine lovers will
tell you that enjoying wine and truly appreciating fine
wine is like a ceremony or ritual. There are certain
steps or guidelines one must follow to heighten the
wine drinking experience.
Proper Wine
Temperature Wine can be varied by many things and one
of them is most definitely temperature and environment. This
is one of the reasons why wine
cellars are so popular among avid wine drinkers. Red
wines need to be allowed to breath for approximately
24 hours in advance of serving. This allows for settling of
sediments as well as proper room temperature of the
wine for best serving conditions.
White
wines and rose wines can be slightly chilled
for best serving conditions for these types of wines.
Sparkling wines and champagnes require much longer
chilling time of a couple of hours. These guidelines offer the
best circumstances for enjoying your fine wine at the
best optimal settings for taste and flavor.
Don't
Pop Your Cork Uncorking a bottle of wine calls
for another important set of guidelines. Red
wines need to be uncorked an hour or two before
serving to allow them to breath. Red wines oxidize when
uncorked and this process helps with the taste of flavor of
the wine.
The opposite is normally true for
white
wineswhere they lose some of their taste and flavor
after longer periods of being uncorked. Don't uncork white
wines or rose
winesuntil just a few minutes before serving them.
Pouring Of The Wine A glass of wine
should be poured in a certain way to enhance the flavor and
taste of it. Champagnes and sparkling wines need to be
poured along the side of the glass to preserve the
all-important bubbles. Red
wines and white
wines should be poured at the center of the glass
allowing the wine and flavor to circulate throughout
the glass.
Depending on which wine you are
serving, you should never fill a glass more than two-thirds of
the way. While sampling different wines it is normally
a recommended guideline to never pour more than a couple of
sips. Otherwise your palate will be overwhelmed by the
stronger flavors in some wines.
The Right Glassware Matters Wine glasses
even though seemingly unimportant is a main ingredient to a
successful serving of any fine wine. Wine glasses
effect the temperature of a wine. The aroma of a wine
can be better appreciated in wine glasses with wide, thin
rims. White
winerequires narrower and more slender wine glasses
in the common tulip shape.
Fine Wine Guidelines
Should Be Followed Some may decide to not follow any of
these wine
guidelines but if you do follow them you will quickly
understand the reason why so many true wine enthusiasts
choose to do so. It is a fact that the authentic experience of
wine tasting can only truly be experienced when you
follow guidelines that are true and tested.
